Countless individuals in North Carolina and elsewhere have been the subject of an undercover investigation over the years. These investigations are often undertaken with the intent of reducing the flow of illegal drugs. A 53-year-old man has recently been arrested on two separate occasions, and is now facing multiple drug charges in relation to both incidents.
According to reports, the man has been the subject of a recent undercover drug investigation, and this was apparently the second time he has been arrested in the past two months. The first arrest took place in April, after police executed a search warrant at a local residence. Police claim to have discovered methamphetamine and oxycodone during the search, and took him into custody.
Reportedly, he was released on bond while awaiting court proceedings. Around a month later, police allegedly found him in possession of over 50 grams of methamphetamine, along with a large sum of cash during a traffic stop. There was no indication of what led officers to initiate the traffic stop. He was taken into custody once again and is facing felony drug trafficking charges regarding that incident.
Drug charges of this nature are serious, and carry severe penalties should a conviction be obtained. Those who are accused of a similar crime often speak with a defense attorney for advice on the best course of action with which to proceed. An attorney in North Carolina can evaluate the charges and evidence against a client and assist in formulating a strong strategy for defense and, if a conviction is unavoidable, assist in pursuing a lesser sentence during court proceedings.
